I always like to get useful tips.  I think it is great that so many tips are given here at AR.

I'm still working on "thumb typing" but I have to admit it is faster.

Kathy,

Thanks, It has taken some getting used to, switching from the qwerty keyboard. But I'm sold on the iphone.  I'm waiting until the end of the month to upgrade to iphone 4.

Thanks for the tips; it would be helpful if it would just do it by voice command...

I love the part about the guy who had his thumbs altered.... what?

I think my thumbs are too big for my iPhone but I'd never have them altered!  That cracked me up!

Thanks for posting this.  I've had my iPhone for awhile now but I'm not great at typing on it.  I learned a couple of new things that might help!

Kathy - Great tips for typing.  Now if only it had a large very portable keyboard for touch typists.

Mrs. Wilder, my high school typing teacher (yes, we took typing in HS back in the.......) would turn over in her grave if she knew I was typing with my thumbs.  But, you are right, the thumbs work better since you have to hold the "typewriter".

But what really pops my cork, is this younger generation typing messages back and forth for 15 minutes.  CALL ME!!!!!  The same messages could be stated in 3 minutes.  To me text messages (more than 2 in sequence) are a waste of "time".  I do send a text to people to see if they are available to talk, but I tell them if they are available, to "Call Me", and give my phone number.

If anybody says they can type with 2 thumbs faster than they can talk......Well, I have a Bridge for sale....or oceanfront property in Kansas!

Hi Kathy - This should work pretty well on my Droid, too. I've got to learn the shortcuts!

Good iPhone tips. I've had mine about 3 years now and have gotten pretty good. Another key point is learning to trust the iPhones auto-correct function. It's pretty good and catching mistakes and correcting them.
