Living the Desert Life: Rising Above the Pandemic
I am lucky. The pandemic has not changed my world a great deal. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love being home and living at Casa Schowe. It is definitely my happy place. I traveled for years when I played golf on the mini-tour, and in college- so staying home to me now is a luxury. When the virus shut down hit I had 2 homes in escrow and they closed. Then I had 2 more in escrow and they closed. Currently I have 4 in escrow and buyers are coming out from LA and Orange County looking for their desert getaway. This pandemic is actually creating a demand for second homes, vacation properties, and even full time residences in the Palm Springs area. I am lucky. 🏠
That being said, I have many hobbies and passions that fill my time and calendar when I'm not selling real estate. I love to cook and have written 2 cookbooks. I have relished the time home to bake and I really enjoy trying new recipes and making dinner. You can follow my cooking on my Kathy's Kitchen Recipes Instagram or Facebook Kathy's Kitchen Recipes. 👩🍳
I also am an artist and this extra time at home has given me more the opportunity to work on many projects. I create home portraits, pet portraits, and all kinds of fun art. Recently I did a quick portrait of Casa Schowe above. I've found an outlet for some of my artwork on Redbubble and Spoonflower and have fun selling my designs on all kinds of home products, apparel, and fabric. 🎨
While home I have also been reaching out to friends and neighbors to check in on them. I've made several "treat deliveries" to share some of my baked goods. Cookies and Banana Bread seem to be very popular! 🍪
Of course extra time at home has also meant more time to spend with our kitties! They have been wonderful companions for us and always keep us entertained. We have 3 Siamese-Mix rescue cats, Maverick, Tonto, and Amigo. Playing with them and watching all of their shenanigans always brings a smile to my face! 😻
Our golf course was closed for a few weeks in the middle of this- but getting out there for some fresh air has been a lifesaver for so many! ⛳️
Social media also is one of my favorite ways staying connected with clients, friends, and family. By incorporating my hobbies, interests, and pets... I have plenty of content to share with my followers. People connect with you on a different level when you have common interests.
Although we were isolating at home- I have found plenty of things to do besides selling real estate- and having a little more time to do them has been okay with me. Doing the things I love ❤️ the most during the pandemic... I am lucky! 🍀
This is my entry into the Active Rain June Challenge.
